2027 shared-departure requests

This section applies only to shared 2027 departures — not to private day hikes, which can be requested year-round. There is no live shared-departure calendar to book from today. 2027 shared-departure requests open from 5 February 2027 — request a preferred 2027 shared route and date and a local guide checks real guide and date availability, then confirms the trip and final total in writing before any booking or payment. A request is not a confirmed shared departure.

Which Atlas Mountains hike is right for you?

Five distinct day-hike landscapes sit within a short transfer of Marrakech. The right one depends on the scenery you want, how much climbing you are happy with and who is walking with you.

Private day hikes from Marrakech: routes, inclusions and prices

Three standard private day hikes run for your party alone, with a private Marrakech round-trip transfer and a home-cooked lunch included: Imlil €85/person, Ourika €95/person and Agafay €105/person. For two or more guests, multiply the per-person price by group size; a solo guest pays €170 (Imlil), €190 (Ourika) or €210 (Agafay) — double the per-person rate. These inclusions apply to these three hikes only; other routes have their own pricing on each tour page. Standard day hikes are private for your party. An enquiry is a request, not a confirmed booking.

A day in the Atlas: what the walk is really like

You walk at your own pace, never rushed to keep up with a group; your Berber guide sets the rhythm to suit your party and reads the weather and the ground. Atlas trails are mostly old mule tracks — stone-paved where steep, earthen across terraces and plateaux, loose scree higher up — so sturdy shoes or light boots with grip matter more than heavy equipment. Midway you stop for a home-cooked lunch, often tagine or Berber flatbread prepared by a local family, with mint tea and time to rest. For a gentler day, the lower Ourika Valley, the Kik Plateau and Ouirgane’s olive groves offer the easiest walking with the least climbing. Exact walking time and elevation vary by route and itinerary — each tour page lists the verified distance, ascent and walking hours for that hike.

Mount Toubkal: 2-day, 3-day or summit-on-Day-2 trek?

Mount Toubkal is North Africa's highest peak at 4,167 m — a demanding high-altitude trek, not a valley day walk. There are three formats: the 2-day direct summit (from €319/person, transfer included); the 3-day acclimatisation trek (from €442/person, transfer included); and a distinct 3-day summit-on-Day-2 itinerary (€462/person trek + €60/person transfer = €522/person; transfer not included). Summit success depends on weather, altitude and fitness — no guide can guarantee it.

Frequently asked questions

Which day hike is best for a first-time visitor to the Atlas?

Imlil and the Berber villages is the classic first Atlas day — village and walnut-orchard walking beneath the Toubkal massif with the most cultural depth for the least effort. For an easier, flatter walk, the lower Ourika Valley or the Kik Plateau are gentler still. All three are private for your party and include hotel pickup, a guide, lunch and return transfer.

What is the difference between Imlil and Ourika?

Imlil sits higher at 1,740 m beneath the Toubkal massif and centres on Berber village and walnut-orchard trails — the deeper mountain and cultural experience. Ourika is a lower, greener river valley famous for the Setti Fatma waterfalls, with some light scrambling at the falls and a cooler microclimate.

What is included in the standard private day-hike price?

For the three standard private day hikes — Imlil (€85/person), Ourika (€95/person) and Agafay (€105/person) — the per-person price includes a private round-trip transfer from your Marrakech accommodation, a local Berber guide for the full day, and a home-cooked lunch with water. For two or more guests the per-person price is multiplied by group size; a solo guest pays €170 (Imlil), €190 (Ourika) or €210 (Agafay) — double the per-person rate. Other routes have their own pricing and inclusions on each tour page.

How do private hikes differ from scheduled shared departures?

Standard day hikes are private for your party — you choose the date, the pace and who walks with you. Shared departures are not currently listed on a live calendar; from 5 February 2027 you can request a preferred 2027 shared date and a local guide checks real availability before anything is confirmed. A private hike runs on your own dates year-round. Either way, an enquiry is a request, not a confirmed booking until our team verifies the arrangements with you in writing.

What details should I include in my enquiry?

Send your preferred dates (or a flexible window), group size and the ages of any children, your general fitness and recent walking experience, what you most want from the day — views, villages, waterfalls, a summit, culture — and your Marrakech pickup location. A local guide replies personally with route options and a transparent, itemised price; no account is needed.
