Marrakech Outdoor Hikes is a locally rooted Amazigh (Berber) hiking and trekking operator based in Marrakech and Imlil, at the foot of the High Atlas. The team is made up of guides born in the Imlil valley and the surrounding High Atlas mountains — people who grew up walking these trails, who know the mule tracks, the weather signs and the village families along every route.
What makes the team useful to hikers is practical, on-the-ground route knowledge. The guides have walked these paths since childhood, so they can read the conditions on the day, adjust a route to your fitness and the weather, and take you to the quieter villages and viewpoints a visitor would never find alone. Rather than a fixed timetable, the day is shaped around how you are walking and what you most want to see.
Matching guests to the right route is central to how the team works. When you enquire, a local guide reads your dates, group size, walking experience and interests, and recommends the route that genuinely suits you — a gentle family day in Ouirgane, a first Atlas walk in Imlil, a waterfall scramble in Ourika, or a multi-day Toubkal summit trek. The conversation happens before anything is booked, so you arrive prepared for the right level of effort.
The team organises private day hikes from Marrakech — Imlil, Ourika, Agafay, Ouirgane and the Kik Plateau — Mount Toubkal summit treks (2-day and 3-day guided climbs), and longer multi-day Atlas circuits through the Azzaden Valley and beyond. Every trip is led by a local Berber guide and runs privately for your party unless you request a shared departure.
Respect for the mountain villages is woven through every trip. The team lives in these valleys, shares meals with local families, and routes its work so that guiding income stays in the communities you walk through. Visitors are welcomed as guests, not processed as numbers, and the pace always leaves room for mint tea, a village visit and the landscape itself.
