History
Asni grew as a trading and market settlement at the junction of the Marrakech–Toubkal road and the routes over the Moulay Brahim gorge to the Kik Plateau and Ouirgane. Its weekly souk has drawn Berber farmers and herders from across the foothills for generations.
Culture
A Tamazight-speaking Amazigh market town whose Tuesday souk remains a genuine gathering of foothill farmers and herders, not a tourist spectacle. The surrounding villages farm olives, almonds and barley on terraced slopes above the river, and welcome visitors with the easy hospitality of the low valleys.
Climate
Mild foothill climate, warmer and lower than Imlil — pleasant for walking almost year-round, with hot summer afternoons best avoided and crisp, clear winter days.

Year-round; spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal. Visit on a Tuesday to experience the souk.
