Day 1: Ourika → argan cooperative → Setti Fatma falls → return

Depart Marrakech at 9:00 AM for the one-hour drive up the Ourika valley. Stop at a women’s argan cooperative to see the hand-pressing and meet the women who run it. Continue to Setti Fatma (980 m) and walk the riverside path to the seven waterfalls (1,200 m), with time to paddle and swim in the natural pools. Lunch at a riverside café, then a relaxed return walk and drive back to Marrakech by 6:00 PM.

Landscape: Green river valley, waterfalls and natural pools..

Good to know: Bring swimwear and a towel in summer; the waterfall rocks are slippery — wear grippy shoes.

Villages and Berber culture

We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.

Food on the trail

Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.

Frequently asked questions

Is this hike women-only?

Yes — the group is exclusively women (max 8) with a female guide wherever possible. A safe, supportive space throughout.

Is the argan cooperative really run by women?

Yes — the Ourika argan cooperatives are run by and for local women, providing independent income. Your visit directly supports them, and your guide translates the conversation.

Can we swim at the waterfalls?

In the warmer months (May–September) the natural pools are safe for a paddle or swim. Your guide knows the safe spots and supervises.

Is it suitable for solo women?

Yes — many guests are solo women. The small women-only group is welcoming and supportive.

What should I wear?

Comfortable walking clothes and grippy shoes for the waterfall rocks. A swimsuit under your clothes is practical in summer. Modest dress is appreciated in the village.
