Depart Marrakech at 8:30 AM and drive via Asni to the Kik Plateau edge (1,600 m). Walk the open ridge to the high point (2,000 m) with the full Toubkal massif across the valley, stopping at Berber hamlets and a shepherd family for tea and a picnic lunch. Complete the loop and return via the Moulay Brahim gorge, reaching Marrakech by 6:30 PM.
Landscape: Open plateau, alpine meadows and Toubkal panoramas..
Good to know: The plateau is exposed — bring a wind layer.
We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.
Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.
Carry a wide lens and a polariser: Kik Plateau rewards early-morning and golden-hour light, when the peaks, valleys and villages are at their most photogenic.
Your safety governs every decision we make. Guides carry a comprehensive first-aid kit and are trained to recognise altitude sickness and manage mountain emergencies. We monitor weather continuously and will adjust or turn back a route when conditions demand it. Group sizes are kept small, emergency evacuation protocols are in place (including helicopter evacuation where available), and 24/7 support is available from our Marrakech office throughout your trip. Marrakech Outdoor Hikes is fully insured under Policy #29/29726.
