Adventure and safety are not opposites; good safety is what makes real adventure possible. Every Marrakech Outdoor Hikes itinerary is built around conservative, experience-led risk management. Here is how we look after you, and how you can help us do it.
Every trek is led by a licensed Moroccan mountain guide with wilderness first-aid training and years of local experience. Small group sizes mean your guide always knows where you are and how you are coping — the foundation of mountain safety.
Our guides read the sky and the forecast daily, and will adjust routes or timings without hesitation when conditions demand it. Summit attempts start before dawn to use the most stable weather and safest snow. A turned-back summit is always better than a forced one.
Guides carry a comprehensive first-aid kit, a means of communication, and knowledge of the fastest evacuation routes. On high and remote treks we carry additional emergency equipment appropriate to the terrain and season.
Mountain rescue in the Atlas can involve mule evacuation to the nearest road and onward transfer to hospital in Marrakech. We strongly require every guest to carry travel insurance that covers trekking to your maximum altitude, including emergency evacuation.
