Villages and Berber culture

We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.

Food on the trail

Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.

Photography tips

Carry a wide lens and a polariser: Kik Plateau rewards early-morning and golden-hour light, when the peaks, valleys and villages are at their most photogenic.

Group sizes are kept small, emergency evacuation protocols are in place (including helicopter evacuation where available), and 24/7 support is available from our Marrakech office throughout your trip. Marrakech Outdoor Hikes is fully insured under Policy #29/29726.
