Pickup from your Marrakech riad at 8:30 AM for the drive to Imlil (1,740 m). Meet your female guide over mint tea, then walk the riverside path through walnut orchards to Aroumd (1,900 m). Visit a Berber family home, help prepare lunch, and share a meal and conversation with the women of the household. An optional short climb to a viewpoint (2,100 m) offers a panorama of the Toubkal massif before the descent and return to Marrakech by 6:00 PM.

Landscape: Walnut orchards, terraced fields and Berber village life..

Good to know: A relaxed, supportive pace — no pressure to reach the viewpoint if the group prefers to linger in the village.

Villages and Berber culture

We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.

Food on the trail

Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.

Carry a wide lens and a polariser: Imlil rewards early-morning and golden-hour light, when the peaks, valleys and villages are at their most photogenic.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really women-only?

Yes — the group is exclusively women (max 8), and we provide a female guide wherever possible. Transfers are with a trusted driver. It is a safe, supportive space throughout.

Is the guide female?

We provide a female guide for this hike wherever possible. In rare cases of guide availability we will confirm with you in advance and offer the option to reschedule.

Is it safe for solo women travellers?

Absolutely — many of our guests are solo women. The small women-only group is a welcoming environment, and your guide looks after logistics and safety throughout.

What should I wear?

Comfortable walking clothes. In the village, modest dress (covering shoulders and knees) is appreciated and respectful. A scarf is useful for sun cover and village visits.
