Everything you need to plan azzaden valley 3-day trek — day-by-day itinerary, difficulty, fitness, altitude, weather, accommodation, food, safety, culture and logistics, from Marrakech to Azzaden Valley.
A cultural trek into the hidden Azzaden valley, crossing the Tizi Mzik pass from Imlil and sleeping in family-run guesthouses in villages few travellers ever reach — a gentle-paced immersion in Berber mountain life without a high summit.
This circuit trades the summit rush for real village life, staying with families we have known for years in one of the quietest corners of the Toubkal park.
Ideal for fit, experienced trekkers seeking a genuine mountain challenge who want an authentic Azzaden Valley experience led by licensed local guides.
Rated Moderate – Challenging, it suits fit, experienced trekkers seeking a genuine mountain challenge.

Across 3 days / 2 nights you cover around 34 km, reaching 2,489 m, walking with a Berber mountain guide through the landscapes and villages of Azzaden Valley.
We use a carefully chosen mix of mountain refuges, family-run Berber guesthouses (gîtes) and, on desert and luxury departures, elegant tented camps. Refuges offer dormitory or shared rooms with hot meals; guesthouses provide private rooms, hot showers and home cooking; camps feature proper beds, en-suite facilities and candlelit dining under the stars.
Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.
Your safety governs every decision we make. Guides carry a comprehensive first-aid kit and are trained to recognise altitude sickness and manage mountain emergencies. We monitor weather continuously and will adjust or turn back a route when conditions demand it. Group sizes are kept small, emergency evacuation protocols are in place (including helicopter evacuation where available), and 24/7 support is available from our Marrakech office throughout your trip. Marrakech Outdoor Hikes is fully insured under Policy #29/29726.
We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.
