Day 1: Imlil → Aroumd → Imlil family circuit

Pickup from your Marrakech accommodation at 8:30 AM for the 1.5-hour drive to Imlil (1,740 m). Meet your family guide over mint tea, then walk a gentle riverside path through walnut orchards to the village of Aroumd (1,900 m) — the largest Berber settlement in the valley. Children can help knead bread for lunch, baked in the family oven, while parents enjoy the terrace views. After a home-cooked tagine lunch, a short optional climb to a viewpoint (2,100 m) rewards the whole family with a panorama of the snow-capped Toubkal massif. Descend the same easy path and return to Marrakech by 6:00 PM.

Landscape: Walnut orchards, terraced fields, Berber villages and Toubkal panoramas..

Good to know: Bring snacks and a small toy for younger children; the path is stroller-free but gentle enough for ages 5+.

Villages and Berber culture

We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.

Food on the trail

Mountain food is fresh, generous and cooked from scratch. Expect harira soup, tagines slow-cooked over olive wood, couscous, fresh bread baked in village ovens, seasonal fruit, nuts and endless sweet mint tea. Dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — are catered for with advance notice at no extra cost.
