Why this trek stands out

A flexible wilderness trek across the little-walked Tessaout headwaters and high passes of the central Atlas, camping in remote pastures and crossing terrain where you are far more likely to meet a shepherd than another trekker.

For walkers who have done the classics and want real remoteness, this route strings together the quietest corners of the central Atlas with full camp support.

Safety and guiding

Your safety governs every decision we make. Guides carry a comprehensive first-aid kit and are trained to recognise altitude sickness and manage mountain emergencies. We monitor weather continuously and will adjust or turn back a route when conditions demand it. Group sizes are kept small, emergency evacuation protocols are in place (including helicopter evacuation where available), and 24/7 support is available from our Marrakech office throughout your trip. Marrakech Outdoor Hikes is fully insured under Policy #29/29726.

Local culture and responsible travel

We are a community-first operator. We employ local Berber guides, cooks and muleteers at fair wages, source food and lodging from mountain families, and follow strict leave-no-trace principles — carrying out all waste and protecting fragile alpine and desert environments. A share of every booking supports village schools and water projects across the valleys we walk through.
